๐ซ Little Scholars School in Kashipur hosted a dynamic two-day workshop on April 23 and 24 on competency-based assessment in science at the secondary level. Educators from various schools in and around Kashipur participated in the workshop. ๐
๐ฉโ๐ซ The workshop was spearheaded by esteemed resource person Dr. Geeta Shukla, a Master trainer with CBSE, certified Global Career Counselor, & a founder of mindful Counsellors, delved into various aspects of assessment methodologies. The workshop placed a special emphasis on the refinement of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and free-response questions (FRQs), along with ensuring the quality of questions aligned with curricular priorities. Dr. Shukla elucidated guidelines for crafting MCQs, stressing the importance of establishing clear curricular priorities to inform question development. A cornerstone of the workshop was elucidating the key principles of effective assessment. Participants gained insights into the intricacies of designing high-quality MCQs and FRQs, including the parameters for rating their efficacy. Dr. Shukla underscored the necessity of considering Bloom's taxonomy beyond mere recall and understanding levels, ensuring questions encompass higher-order thinking skills. Critical to the workshop's objectives was understanding the characteristics of a good stimulus, which serves as the foundation for FRQs. Moreover, Dr. Shukla highlighted the significance of blueprinting, marking schemes, and rubrics in ensuring fair and objective assessment. required.
